Competition Info

Updated for Pole Legends 2024

This competition is open to any pole dancer aged 18 and over, who either has a New Zealand passport or has been training in New Zealand for at least one month in the last 6 months to the prior to the competition date.

 

Participants will perform on two 45mm poles. One pole will be set to spinning, the other set to static.

 

Details of stage size, pole heights and configuration of spinning and static pole will be released as soon as they can be confirmed with that years venue.

 

No grip product can be applied to the pole before performances. Pole will be cleaned between every competitor with meths. Grip may be applied to the body only. Grip aids that leave a residue on the pole (e.g. wax)  are not permitted.

 

Pole Legends will require a $44 entry fee from each contestant entering per category. An application will not be accepted until the entry fee has been paid.

 

Any no-shows or anyone who enters and drops out will not be refunded.

Competitor Entry into Pole Legends is through video submission via a form on this website.

  • Entries open 14th May 2024.

  • Video submissions must be received by midnight, 11th June 2024

  • Entries and videos must be submitted via the website entry page

  • Video link must be provided in the Entry Form. Only videos uploaded to YouTube, Vimeo or Google drive link will be accepted.

  • Video length limit minimum of 2.30mins to 4mins.

  • Video must show a routine with no editing together or merging of clips whatsoever.

  • Video must be no more than 12 months old.

  • Videos will be judged according to this judging criteria

General Details

  • This competition is open to all pole dancers

  • Competitors must arrive at the venue by the given time. Failure to arrive within the given time period may result in disqualification.

  • Competitors must conduct themselves appropriately at all times.

  • Competitors must comply with the rules and regulations at all times. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.

  • Competitors may be required to appear on TV, radio, film, or print media, for the purposes of publicity and promotion.

  • Competitors must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

  • Competitors must be in good physical health.

  • The organisers reserve the right to prevent a competitor from performing if they are judged to not be physically fit.

  • Competitors must warm up properly before performing.

  • Entrants must not heckle or jeer during other competitors performances.

  • Competitors will be held responsible for their guests, if any person is deemed to be rude or unsupportive they will be ejected and banned from the competition.

  • Competitors may not communicate with the judges at any time during the competition.

  • Judges decision is final.

Routine Details

  • Timing of the routine will begin from the start of the music, or from when the competitor begins moving, whichever occurs first.

  • Routines must be between 3.30mins and 4mins long

  • Should the routine exceed the maximum time the music will be stopped at the limit stated above.

  • The use of backing dancers is permitted however no one other than the competitor can touch the pole.

  • No hanging off or using the rigging during the routine is permitted.

  • Competitors must be wearing suitable dance attire.

  • Removal of clothing is permitted, provided that the competitor still adheres to the minimum clothing requirement.

  • No full nudity is permitted.

  • Props are permitted, provided that discarding them will not be potentially hazardous for subsequent competitors (e.g. where water or other liquids will be left on the floor), and can be put into place by one person within 30 seconds.

  • Grip aids are permitted*, however, competitors may NOT apply grip aids to the pole.

  • The use of gloves is permitted. *Grip aids that leave a residue on the pole (e.g. wax)  are not permitted.

  • Competitors must not apply any lotions, creams, oils, or fake tan to their skin for 6 hours prior to the event.

Filming & Photography

  • Competitors agree to be photographed and filmed.

  • Photography and filming are not permitted within the competitor changing areas.

  • All photography and footage remain the property of Pole Legends. Competitors have no right to compensation for photography and footage made as part of the competition.

  • Competitors agree that all photography and footage can be used by Pole Legends for promotional, advertising, and commercial purposes.
